Jhongjhou Elementary School has a history that dates back to 1921,
when it was established as a branch classroom of Xuejia Public School.
In 1926, it became an independent school named Jhongjhou Public School,
with the first principal being a Japanese individual named Takeo Suenaga.
During the Japanese colonial period, the school implemented Japanization policies,
leading to unequal treatment of Taiwanese students and a setback in Chinese cultural education.
After World War II and the subsequent return of Taiwan to Chinese rule,
the school adopted a Chinese curriculum in 1945 and was renamed Tainan County Xuejia Township Second Elementary School.
The school underwent several name changes in the following years.
In 1968, with the implementation of the nine-year compulsory education system in Taiwan,
it was renamed Tainan County Xuejia Township Jhongjhou Elementary School.
Finally, in 2010, following the merger of Tainan County and Tainan City into a special municipality,
the school's name was changed to Tainan City Xuejia District Jhongjhou Elementary School, which it remains today.
